[ character introduction ]
jeon siwoo, heir apparent to the 'j' empire. it had started out as a shipping company before his father and his siblings branched out to other industries, establishing themselves as a household name. rumour has it that the jeons dabble in the trade of illicit goods and have ties to triads across south korea. still, they have managed to maintain their squeaky clean image in the media for three generations and counting. the jeons are known for their generosity as much as their lavish lifestyles, having co-founded a charitable organisation that aims to help orphans. he has recently started his tenure as president of the foundation, per his father's wishes. siwoo himself longs for a life of normalcy, outside of the public eye and away from the expectations of his family. secretly, he doesn't quite enjoy expensive wine as much as he does dollar soju.
[ established relationships ]
| HAEIN | twin brother. they have a complicated relationship that stems from their parents giving haein up when they were born. siwoo is extremely attached to him because he sees haein as the only other person that understands what it’s like to be him. |
| AKI | childhood friends. haru, as he knows her, used to be one of his closest friends. at one point, their families were thinking of an arranged marriage between them. this quickly fell through after her mother’s infidelity was uncovered. they drifted after she started using drugs (of which he indirectly caused) and they are currently trying to pick up the pieces of their relationship. he still cares about her deeply. |
| RUTH | publicly dating. the kang family is an important business partner to the jeons. they co-founded and co-run a charitable organisation that supports orphaned children. she is aware of his brother as he is aware of her true identity. with this mutually assured destruction, they constantly walk on eggshells around each other and are spiteful and snarky when outside the public eye. |
| YEONJUN | sugar baby. he’s one of the few people who is aware of siwoo’s bisexuality. siwoo has a lot of internalised homophobia but is ultimately unable to deny his sexual attraction to men. yeonjun helps him to fulfil his desires and does so with discretion. siwoo is not affectionate but he treats his partners fairly well. |
| SOHEE | used to be close as kids. she was the first person he looked for when haein was very sick and denied medical attention. since that incident in their childhood, sohee has grown closer to haein than siwoo. siwoo doesn’t particularly mind this but he is a little bitter that they no longer can hold a normal conversation. |
| DAMIEN | share a civil albeit professional relationship. they are the type to hang out because their parents are friends. siwoo feels slightly more comfortable around him and would actually invite him out for meals. he’s aware that damien is closer to haein and sohee but it doesn’t bother him. |
| YUNOH | mutual dislike. he knows that yunoh is haein’s best friend and he does not quite approve of their relationship. there was once, in their teenaged years, where yunoh mistakenly kissed him and it’s something he can’t let go of. he puts up with yunoh because he knows how much he means to haein, but otherwise avoids him entirely. |
| SHINGUN | mechanic. siwoo frequents lumpsparks for normal work on his cars and other shadier dealings. shingun flirts with siwoo and receives the brunt of his homophobia. siwoo has asked for a more qualified mechanic more than a dozen times now but to no avail. |
| YIJEONG | (not really) high school friends. haein used to attend school as siwoo and befriended yijeong in the process. siwoo was indifferent to the friendship and would not interact with yijeong when he was back in school. their families are close. |
| MINCHEOL | keeps an eye on him. siwoo was opposed to haein moving in with him due to his awareness of mincheol’s history and past transgressions. he didn’t have much of a say in it because of his embezzlement of the foundation’s funds to pay for haein’s rent and their subsequent fallout. still, he keeps a close eye on mincheol just in case. |
